BCIS Champions of the Triathlon
It is no mystery that BCIS staff members are incredibly intelligent. However, most of the public do not know these very same people are also incredibly fit! Yes! It is true that our community consists of those that are superb both mentally and physically. Proof can be found in the record number of staff that participated in this year’s Beijing International Triathlon, which is annually held every September in Fengtai. Members of the BCIS Community are actually no strangers to this herculean task, with this year being the second or third time for many of the participants, whose number has shown a marked increase from last year’s.
For this year’s events, 22 BCIS Community members diligently prepared to take part in the various races, which included the Sprint Distance (750m swim, 20km bike ride, and 5km run) and Olympic Distance (1.5km swim, 40km bike ride and 10km run). There was also a relay event in which participants formed teams to complete the course. As an international event, the triathlon attracted many professional athletes from all over the world, making the competition even fiercer. Nonetheless, the BCIS members took on the challenge head on without any fears.
To complete a triathlon in itself is a great achievement that deserves much respect. BCIS is immensely proud of its many members that demonstrated their commitment to training, preparing, and competing in such a difficult sporting event, as well as showing true dedication to forming a strong mind, body, and spirit.
