Campus

Amphitheatre

This provides ample open space for outdoor performances and activities for students to embrace the natural elements while learning in a conducive environment.

Cafeteria

We have 2 spacious cafeterias – one for the Elementary School, and the other for the Middle and High Schools. Students enjoy lunches here, either serviced by Eurest or home-made brought to school. There is also a snack bar by the Middle/High School cafeteria where snacks and drinks are served throughout school hours.

Classrooms

Our classrooms are designed to be spacious (108 square metre minimum), bright (one side with complete natural light), and multi-functional (connections between classrooms to allow for interactions). Each classroom is a unique world the teachers and students have created together. Each classroom is like a shining pearl – a truly stimulating learning environment.

Courtyards

Embracing traditional Chinese architecture with modern design, the courtyards provide privacy and a quiet learning environment while, at the same time, highlighting the communal aspects of shared facilities and harmonious interaction.

Elementary School

The Elementary School includes classes from Nursery to Grade 5. We have specialist teachers for Arts, Music, Physical Education and Chinese Studies. We offer the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) at the Elementary School. Our teachers have a collaborative approach to planning, teaching and learning and work closely not only with students and teachers, but also with our parents and the local community.

Health Centre

The Health Centre is located on the first floor of the Elementary School building with easy access and transportation. It is attended by two full-time registered nurses.

Libraries

BCIS has two modern libraries, one for the Elementary School and the other for the Middle and High Schools. All materials are sourced internationally and form a substantial resource centre for our students, teachers and the whole community. Both libraries have unique designs and are our students’ favourite places for researching and reading for pleasure.

Middle/High School

The Middle School (Grade 6 to 8) and High School (Grade 9 to 12) are housed in one building where they share state-of-the-art facilities including spacious classrooms, science labs, performing arts studios, visual arts studios, and library.

Music Studios

Students of different grades enjoy their music lessons in their respective music studios. Individual practice rooms are also available for students to play instruments. Each school section has its own band and they are both active on the BCIS stage.

Roof Garden

The Roof Garden is a vertical extension of the comprehensive resource centre and provides a private space to stimulate thinking.

Science Labs

There are four state-of-the-art science labs in the Middle/High School building. Students learn actively in an intriguing and safe environment.

Sports Complex

BCIS has an outstanding Sports Complex that provides extensive space for physical education classes and sports events. The Sports Complex includes a three-basketball-court indoor multipurpose gymnasium, a 12-metre high indoor climbing wall, a fully equipped fitness and weight room, and outdoor basketball and tennis courts. Students at BCIS advance at a pace that both challenges them and enhances their own personal development. Through team-oriented and individual activities drawn from a variety of cultures, the Physical Education programme is designed to foster both cooperation and a healthy competitive spirit.

Swimming Pool

The Swimming Pool is next to the gymnasium. The 25-metre, 6-lane indoor swimming pool is ideal for Physical Education swimming courses, activities, and competitive events. Adjacent to the pool are modern changing rooms, restrooms and showers. The pool is open to BCIS community members during specified non-school hours.

Theatre

BCIS has one of the best purpose-built theatres among international schools. The 300-seat theatre has full production, film, and conference facilities and also has a spacious outdoor stage. Our theatre houses a variety of performances by students, professional groups, and others throughout the year.

Track and Field

The outdoor Sports Arena includes a running track and a large artificial-turf sports field. Bleachers overlooking the field seat 200 people and form the focal point of BCIS sporting life. Through regular participation in Physical Education and sports, students develop self-confidence and skills in a safe environment. Moreover, BCIS students develop creativity, tolerance, self-esteem, leadership skills and body awareness in this balanced programme.

Visual Arts Studio

This is a place, although not the only place, where students are encouraged to unleash their creativity and express themselves beyond words.
