Congratulations to the Class of 2010! Congratulations are due to the BCIS Class of 2010. These students achieved some excellent results in their IB diploma exams. The cohort averaged 32.6 points overall, which is above the world average of 27. Two students – the twins, Seu Lin Choi and Seo Young Choi – achieved 42 and 41 points (out of 45) respectively. Three other students – Kevin Ja, Jae Hee Jang and Chiao Yu Tuan – achieved 36, 37 and 38 points each. These results, and the diploma points average, show a high level of academic achievement within the cohort, as well as successes in non-academic areas, including Community Service. Teachers of this cohort deserve much credit for these successes. However, the successful graduation of students is not only the responsibility of DP teachers. All teachers who taught and nurtured this cohort throughout their years at BCIS played a role in preparing them for the challenges of the diploma programme. Many teachers, parents and students will remember the Choi twins, who arrived at BCIS in grade 9 and were placed in the English B Foundation class. Within two years of their time at BCIS, these students were able not only to access the curriculum, but were able to do so with distinction. To have reached such a high level in four years of study at BCIS is a phenomenal achievement. It speaks a great deal about BCIS as a school, in particular its ability to support students with English as a Second Language through the rigorous academic demands of the IB diploma programme. With these very good results, many of our 2010 cohort have already found places at competitive universities around the world. Chiao Yu Tuan has accepted a place to study Psychology at Lawrence University in the US. Kevin Ja will study Economics and Management at Other students are still applying for preferred courses in South Korea, Japan and South Africa. All of us at BCIS are proud of your achievements and wish you every success in your future careers. The Class of 2010 is the 2nd graduate cohort of BCIS. Students have received offers from many prestigious universities around the world: University of Edinburgh (UK) |
