Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
Welcome to the PTAThe day your child joined the school, you became a member of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at BCIS. The PTA is a non-profit organization consisting of all parents, teachers, and Board members of the school community. Our aim is to promote and enhance the international character and values of the education offered at BCIS, and to forge a unified, vibrant, caring community in support of student education. Through close co-operation among the parents, staff, Board, and others associated with the school, the PTA assists in developing and extending relationships with all. Orientating to life after moving to a new country, new school, and often, a new language can be an overwhelming experience. Participating in PTA activities is a great way to make new friends, share experiences, and learn about the community. Our ActivitiesThe PTA helps to organize various events throughout the year such as the Welcome Party, Spring in the City fair, International Day, and various other social get-togethers. The PTA supports the school by assisting with voluntary help for sporting events and class excursions. The school’s International Day celebration relies on parent support for its world cuisine. The PTA has also recruited parents to volunteer as "Grade Representatives" to support and mobilize teachers, students, and families with various class related trips, social programs, and school events. Fundraising is a part of PTA activities. With that, we will endeavor to support various school and community charities/initiatives in an effort to give back to the community we live in, and to promote a sense of social responsibility in our children. Student Council and individual students, class led initiatives, and teachers/management from elementary, middle, and high school, can apply to receive PTA fund support through the Grant Program. The PTA runs a store, which currently sells school clothing such as PE wear, school supplies, small gifts great for last minute birthday parties, books, ice cream, and other items. The PTA welcomes suggestions for expanding its BCIS branded product line, as well as volunteers to help at the shop or concession stands. Wondering how to get involved? There are many ways to get involved in the PTA: Go to a PTA monthly meeting held at the school. This is a great way to learn about new developments, and gives you the opportunity to contribute to the direction of the school. Join in on a social event, seek a position on the board, become a “Grade Representative”, become a volunteer at a school or PTA event, help out in the PTA store, or join a committee. We encourage all parents to become actively involved in the BCIS school life, with whatever time and contribution you can make, and share with their children this positive and memorable experience. Please contact us at pta@bcis.cn if you would like to be involved. |
