Parent Teacher Community Association (PTCA)

Welcome to the PTCA

The day your child joined the school you became a member of the Parent Teacher Community Association (PTCA) at BCIS. The PTCA is a non-profit organisation consisting of all parents, teachers and Board members of the school community.

Our aim is to promote and enhance the international character and values of the education offered at BCIS and to forge a unified, vibrant, caring community in support of student education. Through close co-operation between the parents, staff, Board of Directors and others associated with the school the PTCA assists in developing and extending our relationships.

Orientating to a new life after moving to a new country, new school and often new language can be an overwhelming experience. Participating in PTCA activities is a great way to make new friends, share experiences and learn about the community.

Our Activities

The PTCA helps to organise various events throughout the year such as the Welcome BBQ, regular social get together, International Day, 100 Day Celebration and the “Spring in the City” fair.

The PTCA supports the school by assisting with voluntary help for sporting events and class excursions. The school’s International Day celebration relies on parent support for its world cuisine. There is a “Class Parent” group to welcome new families into individual classes, co-ordinate class social events, and mobilise parents in each year level for special events.

Fundraising is a part of PTCA activities. We support various community charities in an effort to give back to the community we live in. Student Council, individual students, and class led initiatives can receive PTCA fund support.

The PTCA runs a store which currently sells school clothing such as PE wear, Olympic merchandise, and other items. This will be greatly expanded in the near future.

Wondering how to get involved?

There are many ways to get involved in the PTCA. Go to a PTCA monthly meeting held at the school. This is a great way to learn about new developments and gives you the opportunity to contribute to the direction of the school. Join in on a social event, become a “Class Parent”, become a volunteer at a school or PTCA event, help out in the PTCA store or join a committee.

We encourage all parents to become actively involved in the BCIS school life and share with their children this positive and memorable experience.

Please contact us at ptca@bcis.cn if you would like to be involved.
