Libraries serve to demonstrate to students that "we value not just information in all its forms - print, graphic, online and audio-visual - but also the long-term benefits of literacy and imagination to the individual, the nation and the globe." (Dr. Karen Brooks) BCIS libraries are at the heart of the students’ lives and the school’s curriculum. Centrally located, each library has created a pleasant and safe environment for students. They can do research, homework, work on the computers, and read for enjoyment. The libraries embrace the three IB Programmes by acquiring materials to support academic subjects and the IB Learner Profile. BCIS libraries have about 30,000 titles including English and Chinese language magazines, and books in English, Chinese, and Korean. The libraries also subscribe to a variety of databases to encourage students to use reputable sources in their research. Resources are intended to support the curriculum as well as encourage a love of reading and life-long learning. |
