Haiti Appeal

Over the last few weeks, the BCIS community raised a total of over 42,000 RMB for the Haiti relief effort. We will donate this to a microfinance organisation in Haiti called Fonkoze (www.fonkoze.org). Fonkoze (a contraction of the Haitian Creole phrase “Fondasyon Kole Zepòl” meaning “Shoulder-to-Shoulder Foundation”) is essentially a bank for the poor, and will disburse these funds not as charitable donations, but as easy loans to lift Haitians out of poverty whilst contributing to the growth of the economy of the country.
