Deputy Secondary School Principal
Position Profile

Founded in 2005, Beijing City International School (BCIS) is a highly respected international school with a new purpose-built facility attractively located in the vibrant Central Business District of Beijing. The school seeks an experienced educator to serve as Deputy Principal in the grade 6-12 Secondary School, which comprises of a middle school (grades 6-8) and a high school (grades 9-12).

The primary responsibility of the Deputy Principal will be to lead the grade 6-8 middle school, but the successful candidate will also be expected to collaborate with the Secondary Principal in aspects of leading the grade 6-12 secondary school. Specific leadership roles will be determined by negotiation between the Principal and the Deputy Principal.

BCIS is an independent, not-for-profit school that, unusually for an international school in China, enrolls both expatriate students and those from the host country. The school is governed by the Board of Trustees of its parent company, the Yuecheng Education Company (YEC). Together with  other YEC institutions, BCIS is committed to promoting educational excellence and innovation not only within the school itself but more widely throughout China.

BCIS is one of the few international schools in Beijing to offer the IB curriculum school-wide. Currently serving over 700 students, aged 3-18 representing 50 nationalities, the school is achieving planned growth towards its target maximum enrolment of 960 students by 2015.

The school’s mission statement is to “educate and empower students to be compassionate and inspired people who act for the good of all and for the sustainable development of the world”. The opportunity

Reporting to the Secondary School Principal, the Deputy Secondary Principal will be expected to:

  • Provide visionary leadership for the grade 6-8 middle school in alignment with the BCIS mission, strategic plan and goals.
  • Assist the Secondary Principal in leading the grade 6-12 secondary school, and deputize for the Secondary Principal in his absence.
  • Assist in developing the leadership capacity of the secondary school faculty based on teamwork and collaborative decision-making.
  • Strengthen the school’s foundations of academic rigor within a warm and caring environment.
  • Maintain and develop the distinctive student-centered culture of the middle school section of secondary school.
  • Enhance personalized learning in the middle school based on appropriate challenge, empowerment and support for all students.
  • Together with the Secondary Principal, lead curriculum improvement in the secondary school including the development of non-conventional, enterprise-based 21st century programs.
  • Serve as a member of the school-wide Educational Leadership Team.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned by the Secondary School Principal and Head of School.

Administration Department

1. Admissions Manager
Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Establish and implement admissions strategies and plans towards increase enrollment and accelerating the school’s growth.
  2. Manage the operations of the Admissions Team to ensure timely response of enquiries, productive tours, and effective/efficient follow up on the application/enrollment process.
  3. Plan and implement annual admissions budget.
  4. Organize admissions events and assist in marketing events as admissions SME (subject matter expert) to promote the school and provide school related information.
  5. Develop and maintain strong networks with key stakeholders of the school, specifically HR Managers of MNCs, Embassy officials and relocation agents.
  6. Provide regular updates on enrollment status and trend analysis. Prepare short and long term enrolment forecasts, based on historical trend, competitor analysis, and environment analysis, to facilitate planning for future years.
  7. Manage the implementation of the Scholarship Program by working closely with other departments.
  8. Support the ELT in proving admissions policies and processes to facilitate future expansion of BCIS.
  9. Work closely with the Academic Department to fully understand the programs offered and be aware of ongoing initiatives within the curriculum.
  10. Host VIP guests at the school as needed.
Qualifications/Experience

Responsibilities:
  1. Establish fiscal management policy and internal control procedures.
  2. Set up budgeting system, organize preparation of academic year budget.

  5. Payroll Individual Income Tax double check.
  6. Detail IIT report to the tax bureau.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Coordination and participation in the establishment, review and implementation of school health/services policies and procedures.
  2. Assurance that such policies and related procedures adhere to legal and regulatory requirements and ethical standards of nursing practice.
  3. Assessment, planning, implementing and evaluation of the health services component of the school health program.
  4. Implementation of communicable disease control in the school, including monitoring, surveillance and participating in disease prevention and outbreak management within the school.
  5. Develop emergency medical care plans.
  6. Develop individualized health care plans.
Daily Operation:
  1. Handle with students daily visit, provide appropriate treatment and keep clear record.
  2. Update student health records & review immunizations for compliance
  3. Review absentee records to identify health problems requiring nursing interventions.
  4. In coordination with teachers, provide classroom educational programs on:  chickenpox, disease prevention, seizures and etc.
  5. Prepare health bulletin board with timely information.
  6. Review field trip request forms. Coordinate nursing coverage for medication, treatments, etc.
  7. Conduct hearing screening & follow-up; Conduct scoliosis screening & follow-up; Conduct vision screening & follow-up
  8. Serving as the health care consultant for school personnel and students.
Qualifications/Experience
  1. Qualified nursing certificate
  2. Professional experience in major hospitals
  3. Good skills to take care of students
  4. Minimum 3 years relevant work experience
