BCIS 11.19 & 11.25 Open Houses

Cecilia PEI

At BCIS Early Childhood Center (ECC), children learn through play, nurturing their curiosity. Our close partnership with parents ensures a range of school-home activities that enrich the experience for young learners.

In the Elementary School (ES), students and teachers from diverse backgrounds engage in inquiry-based learning, exploring a wide variety of concepts to prepare for their future.

In the Secondary School (SS), students work on independent and collaborative projects, expanding their knowledge and interests, while also thinking about how to make a positive impact on their local community and the world.

BCIS graduates can be found in leading universities and colleges around the world, pursuing their interests at Harvard, Cambridge, Oxford, Wellesley, Bowdoin, Pratt Institute, Rhode Island School of Design, and many more. BCIS fuels their passion and determination, enabling them to excel in their chosen fields.

BCIS provides personalized, high-quality education that meets rigorous educational standards and fosters unique learning experiences for our students. In the words of renowned international personalized education scholar Professor Zhao Yong, a good educational environment is more like a thriving wetland than a simple garden. The responsibility of the educators is not just about arranging flower pots or tending to unseen plants; it's about creating a space that embraces diverse learning styles and makes the entire learning experience vibrant.

BCIS eagerly awaits your visit!

At the Early Childhood Center (ECC) we use investigative PLAY-BASED approaches as the foundation for learning. Reflecting the philosophies of leading early childhood theorists, young children learn best when they are engaged in experiences of self-discovery and can interact freely with the environment, their peers and teachers. The ECC faculty use the PYP framework to deliver a curriculum which meets these goals and nurtures the strong, meaningful development of our early years students in our state-of- the-art facilities.

Our Open House welcomes families from all stages of the kindergarten. You'll have the opportunity to hear from our academic team, led by the principal, who will share our educational philosophy. Experience firsthand how preschool children learn and discover the real in-person kindergarten classroom setting. You can also tour our teaching environment, proudly holding the LEED Gold certification from the American Green Building Council. Additionally, meet with our admissions officers face-to-face, and have your enrollment questions answered.

Our Elementary School curriculum nurtures curiosity and empowers students to have voice and choice in their learning. Meaningful learning takes place when connections are made to personal experiences and build upon prior knowledge and understanding. We place emphasis on the learning of concepts, skills and dispositions, developing knowledge and fostering responsibility. Combining the PYP and our school mission, our INQUIRY-BASED approach unlocks students’ potential and allows students to explore possibilities with a strong future focus.

The Open House provides an opportunity for you to gain a deeper understanding of the Elementary School's IB PYP curriculum, inquiry-based learning, and the unique features of the BCIS program. During this event, student representatives will also share their experiences with inquiry-based learning at BCIS, helping you better comprehend how our curriculum empowers students and sparks their potential. In addition, our admissions officers will personally introduce admission requirements and lead you on a tour of the main campus.

Our Secondary School learning model develops critical and creative thinkers, connected learners and purposeful doers. We achieve this by empowering students’ initiative, encouraging learning by doing, prioritizing social and emotional learning and reinforcing knowledge, concepts and context. This approach allows students to seek out their own personal learning pathways, meet personalized challenges and demonstrate success in a variety of ways. Through the IMPACT-BASED approach to learning adopted in MYP, DP and IDEATE, students are equipped with the competencies and capabilities needed to adapt, thrive and contribute in an uncertain future.

Currently, BCIS graduates can be found in top educational institutions across 23 countries and regions worldwide, pursuing their individual passions. BCIS is committed to encouraging and supporting students in broadening their global perspectives, providing them with diverse options for further education. During this Open Day, you'll gain insights into the Secondary School's IB MYP curriculum and learn about BCIS's "dual-track" approach to higher education. Additionally, we'll invite student and parent representatives to share their personalized learning experiences at BCIS and how these experiences have laid the foundation for their educational journey.

BCIS warmly welcomes you to experience our academic environment, engage in face-to-face discussions with our academic and admissions teams, and listen to the experiences shared by current students and parents. We look forward to meeting you during our campus Open Days on November 19th and November 25th.
