The tinkling of a piano, the singing of a tune and the beat of a drum always add to the festive spirit of the season. At BCIS this week, we were lucky enough to have both the Elementary and Secondary School Winter Concerts to send off the semester and welcome the holidays! "Music Through the Decades" was the theme for the Elementary concert, where students took the audience on a musical journey from the 1950s all the way up to modern day. Grade 1-5 students' performances saw them break out in hip hop dance, vibrant choral tunes and rousing classics from decades gone by, delighting the audience with their versions of songs from the past. The Secondary School performance began with a series of solo performances by IB Diploma students who wowed audiences with their examination pieces and well-honed instrumental and vocal abilities. The second half of the concert brought all the talent of the Secondary School together with an orchestra of 30 musicians and a 65-student strong choir whobelted out the festive tunes. For the grand finale, almost 100 students led the entire audience on a wonderful sing-along of the classic "We Wish you a Merry Christmas" to close off not only an incredible concert and series of musical performances, but a magnificent first semester too!
