With the approval of the Education Committee of Chaoyang District, Beijing, our rigorous curriculum creatively and authentically implements the Chinese national curriculum. As an IB World School, we challenge our students to ask questions, solve problems, learn skills and be creative. Our teachers use research-based strategies to ensure outstanding student learning.

The primary objective of the IB Programmes is to provide a world-class education that prepares students of different linguistic, cultural, and educational backgrounds with the intellectual, social, and critical perspectives necessary for university and indeed the rest of their lives.

Beyond intellectual rigour and high academic standards, strong emphasis is placed on the ideals of international understanding and responsible citizenship. The profile of the IB student is that of a critical and compassionate thinker, an informed participant in local and world affairs, who values the shared humanity that binds all people together. The programme also instills respect for the variety of cultures and attitudes that makes up our world.

In the spirit of internationalism, and in recognition of our host country, students from Toddler through to Grade 8 are required to learn Chinese in addition to the language of instruction (English).

Every school year we organise a series of workshops to help parents understand our curriculum. These workshops focus not only on what but also on how we teach and learn at BCIS.
