A New Academic Year Begins at BCIS
On August 20, BCIS welcomed students back as the 2025-26 school year officially got underway. After a two-month summer break, the campuses were once again filled with the sounds of laughter and excitement as our community convened to kick off BCIS’s 21st academic year. Since opening its doors in 2005, BCIS has grown steadily through dedication and innovation, becoming a leader in cosmopolitan, rigorous, and progressive education. This day marked not only the continuation of that journey but also the start of a new chapter filled with growth, discovery, and fresh opportunities.
By 8 a.m., energy was already buzzing on the Baiziwan South 2nd Road campus. Smiling teachers greeted students and families at the gate, sharing the first “good mornings” of the year. Photos were being snapped all around as parents eagerly captured these special moments, while old friends reunited and shared stories from their summers.
The Secondary School marked the occasion with its annual opening ceremony in the sunken plaza. New faculty took the stage to introduce themselves to students and parents, followed by lively performances from student bands that set an upbeat tone for the months ahead. At the same time, classrooms in the Elementary School were abuzz with curiosity and excitement as children began their first lessons, eager to embark on their new learning adventures.
Such a smooth start was only possible thanks to hard work and preparation across the BCIS community. Two weeks before classes began, incoming new students participated in Xperience Camp, being introduced to what life as a Warrior is like and exploring the theme “Who am I?” throughout. Culminating in an exhibition of independent projects, our new BCISers expressed themselves creatively, showcasing their unique identities and voices as they build confidence and excitement for their journey ahead at BCIS.
Meanwhile, teachers joining BCIS from around the world took part in a comprehensive two-week orientation. Covering important school policies, safeguarding, curriculum planning, and the aligning community values, the orientation program helped them integrate fully and prepare to bring their passion and expertise to the classrooms.
Recognizing the vital partnership between home and school, each division hosted parent orientation sessions in the lead-up to the first day. At the Early Childhood Center, parents met with their children’s teachers and experienced food-tasting sessions to better understand daily meals. The Elementary School welcomed families by sharing the fundamentals—school policies, educational approaches, learning spaces, and communication systems, while the Secondary School provided an overview of its academic programs, deepening parents’ insight into the personalized education BCIS offers.
Beyond academics, careful operational planning ensured a safe and welcoming environment. The school bus team conducted thorough route checks and safety inspections, while the facilities staff refreshed learning spaces and tested equipment. Ensuring our health and safety, the security teams rigorously reviewed fire safety and flood prevention measures, while the school clinic was prepared for any potential visitors throughout this busy upcoming year.
Thanks to these efforts, all members of our community begin the year confident and well-supported, a vital aspect of living and learning at BCIS.
