SECONDARY SCHOOL SPRING CONCERT

Greg Choi

On one recent fine evening, Diploma Programme (DP) students, along with the Secondary School Percussion Ensemble, Choir, and Orchestra performed various solo and ensemble pieces as part of the annual tradition known as the Spring Concert. The night was filled with splendid musical selections mixing classics from different genres, as well as a few surprising choices that made the audience smile from grin to grin. These included the DP Ensemble's rendition of the global phenomenon song "YMCA" (which the Village People would surely be proud of), as well as the Orchestra and Choir's magical performance of "Tonari No Totoro," which fans of the famous Studio Ghibli will know is from the hit animated film, My Neighbour Totoro. In addition to placing quite a large Totoro stuffed doll next to the piano on stage, a mysterious community member also wore a large Totoro costume and roamed around the stage to the delight of the crowd.

Once again, this year's Spring Concert celebrated the wealth of musical talent the Middle School and High School students at BCIS possess in abundance. Job well done!
